Another Birthday shout-out

Someone's husband planned a surprise birthday party for his wife. It was up in the mountains & as you drove up the canyon, you came across these little signs. They were cute & placed along the roadside, until mother nature blew them over.

The birthday girl arrived & was surprised. I think her husband got her anything & everything that had the Big "40" on it. (nothing like rubbing it in).

We all had a really nice time & a great dinner. We ate outside in the cool mountain air, with the aids of propain heaters & nice little blanket throws from the resort.

After her party in the mountains, the next night at work Nicole made a yummy spice cake for all of us to enjoy. It was the best!!!

And if that wasn't enough, the following night after spice cake, her husband brought in ANOTHER cake. As Cliff would say....her cake has pooh on it!!!

Death of my camera

For those that know me, I never leave my house without my camera. I take it everywhere with me. You do anything crazy at work I will snap your picture.

My grandkids make a cute face, grandma is camera ready!
If Grandma takes you to the park, her camera goes with her.

But finally the day has come where my camera bit the dust.....or should I say, it drowned. This is the last picture it took before it fell in the little stream at Sundance. I didn't like this picture with my big ol fat purse in it, so I was going to take another picture without the purse & hoodie tied around my waist...well it didn't happen, so I am stuck with this photo.

So I am now hunting for a new camera. I'm thinking maybe another Kodak, since my last one was so easy to work. I'm liking this little Kodak M580.

Anyone have a suggestion? I would LOVE to get a 35mm Canon, but I need one I can throw in my purse and run. Let me know. (I keep forgetting that my cell phone has a camera too. )

Fire evacuation

Here is what the fire looks like over the valley. It was taken from the east area looking to the southwest.
It is just crazy. This picture was taken from just down the street from our house about a mile north of our house).

My son & daughter in law have their car packed & are ready to go.
Just waiting go get the word from the Sheriff. They are just 5 blocks north of the evacuation border.
This is what we saw as we were driving out to their house.

We picked up our son & 2 of his brother in laws to help us with some animals that needed to be evacuated.
This fire moved so fast. We sat & watched it come over the mountain about 7pm & then it just ran crazy down the hill. It's 2am & it's still burning out of control. I took some pictures myself I will post later this week.

Scratch that itch

So I think the hubby has an itch that he really needs to scratch, and I for one thinks he should just run down to the closest Walgreens & get some medication for that itch! Since the family is getting bigger, he thinks we might need a bigger trailer (aka: the itch) Now as much as I would like to have a newer, bigger, trailer, I can find just as many reasons NOT to have a bigger trailer to clean.

This weekend my husband asked me if I would like to go to the RV Show.( Hmmmm, let me think of a nice way to say "No".) My answer to his question was of course with another question...."Don't you have things to do around the house, like fix the siding on the house"? **bad me** Of course my adorable hubby replies..." what does that have to do with my question"? Well, I being a woman and all thought it had alot to do with his question. Guess I was wrong. (did I just say I was wrong?)

We end up going as I lucked out & found a 2 for 1 coupon on the internet. So I thought I would go along for the exercise. Nothing says "work-out" like walking up & down rows & rows of trailers. And don't forget those steps in & out of the trailers. After our hour+ work out, we really didn't see anything that caught our eye. We had to admit there were some WAY over the top, high end fancy smancy trailers, but for camping??? Really?? There were a few that had a place to put your flat screen TV outside on a little "pull-out" so you could sit by the fire & watch it. **rolling my eyes**. There was a motor home with a sign on the door "By appointment only"! We thought we should make an appointment for 15 years down the road!!
As my husband would go inside one, he would start figuring out which grandkid would sleep in which bed. There were a few with "lofts" just above the kitchen.(cute for the girls) We only saw a hand full of trailers with full size type tables. (some families still eat at the table people)! The rest were like TV trays (those I crossed off my wish list right away) We even saw a trailer with a fireplace just below the extra wide flat screen TV. RE-donk-U-lous I tell you!!! I think we'll just keep the trailer we have for now. There is nothing wrong with it that a little Benedryl & calamine lotion won't cure!

Happy Birthday Little Brother

What kind of sister am I? I forgot to call my brother on his birthday.

My body "clock" was messed up this week due to monday being a holiday, so
when the big day came along, I thought it was the day before.

I guess I really need a desk job where I can have a calendar sitting there staring at me all day.

The long weekend

- - - - - - - - - - - - - Father's & Son's riding together.

Anyone do anything exciting or fun over the Labor Day weekend? Well the hubby & I decided to go camping for the weekend. (Ok, mostly he planned it). He was out the door by 8am on friday morning. He had the trailer packed & ready to go the night before. He wanted to get a jump on the holiday traffic & campers. He got out to the desert & there was no one there. He was the first trailer out there.

Like always I bought WAY to much food. I just feel like when your camping you can never have to much. I call the boys & ask if there is anything special they might want. One ALWAYS has to have my home made salsa & chips.
For this weekend I made a triple batch, as I knew we would be having Carne Asada the last night & I was hoping that he couldn't eat that whole giant bowl in 2 days.

My grandson wanted "Capri sun" to drink. My granddaughter likes pretty much anything, but I know she loves strawberries. And my other son said if he had to drink Pepsi products, then he wanted Mountain Dew. I did tell both my boys if they wanted Coca-Cola, then they had to bring it themselves.

Our weekend was fun. My son, DIL & granddaughter came out every night. My parents came out for 2 nights & my other son, DIL, grandson & granddaughter came out on Sunday.

We had a blast, but I was so worn out after Sunday's dinner that I just wanted to cry. After everyone left my husband asked me if I was ok. My mom even called me that night to check on me. All I can say is I love my family & enjoy being with them very much. I'm just not sure they feel the same way. :)

Christmas shopping in August??

Ok, so it's now officially September, but I started my shopping in August.
Has anyone else started shopping, or is it just me?

Here are just a few things I got for my new granddaughter when she was born just a couple of months ago. You might ask what else is there to buy her? Well plenty I say!

So far for Christmas I have a few new outfit's for all the grandkids. Stuffed animals & of course pajama's. Now my husband & I have to figure out what might the big gift be? (besides love) Really, what do children under 3 years old really need?

Whatever it might be, we have 4 months to find it.
